We provide you with services that help you track your finances like a pro, figure out pricing for your services so you make a profit, learn how to stay happy and motivated, and more.
In addition to providing easy-to-follow guides on everything from building clientele to managing staff, we’ll also offer training programs for those who want some extra support as they build their businesses. Our Brand Story
Barbering changed my life! It gave me an opportunity to go to college, gain financial independence and create jobs, Barbers and cosmetologists have always been well respected and played an integral role in my community. These businesses always seem to struggle despite punishing effort and a massive market opportunity, also struggled to maintain a profitable business early in my career as a barber and salon owner.
Making more than six figures came at the expense of countless hours online, taking courses, reading dozens of books, and through trial and error. BeautyTrak is designed to make it easier to reach your goals. Some of my greatest challenges involved building my clientele, staffing issues, salon operations, and pricing services profitably. Proper mentorship and/or assistance from business consultants that understood my customers’ services and needs would have saved me years of frustration. BeautyTrak was founded on the belief that too many talented beauty professionals aren’t reaching their financial potential. Despite offering high-quality services, they struggle to effectively manage their marketing, finances, and other business needs.

Meet Our Founder
MALIK TATUM
Founder & CEO
The belief that beauty professionals need and deserve the support and information necessary to thrive and build wealth is a major part of Malik Tatum’s core values. As founder of BeautyTrak, he’s putting his two decades of experience as a serial entrepreneur, marketing expert, and salon owner to work transforming the lives of the women and men who’ve made the beauty industry their home and livelihood.
A native of Detroit, Malik found his purpose at Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida, where he was earning a BA degree in Political Science. With a need for income during college, he discovered a passion for barbering that introduced him to the financial benefits of working in haircare. While still a student in the early 2000s, he founded and established Rattler’s Edge Hair Salon on the campus, which became an integral part of the fabric of the university and remains fully operational today.
Post graduation, he put his marketing education to work expanding the offerings of his salon and helping other brands flourish as well. Over time, he realized his passion for sharing his experiences to develop others’ businesses, particularly since those businesses went on to empower underserved communities by creating jobs and opportunities. Ultimately, he made it his mission to do this work of entrepreneurial empowerment on a larger scale by establishing systems and platforms that serve this population and the goal of community development.
A “FAMU-LY” Affair: BeautyTrak + Florida A&M University
Florida A&M University is an official partner of BeautyTrak, and they have supported BeautyTrak in developing a fresh and user-friendly program that provides in-salon training and virtual courses that breed leadership, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial proficiency. Program participants are treated to training from a wide range of experts, including accountants and attorneys, to give them the tools to grow their business.
Recognizing the expense and weight college can carry for some, it became important to Malik and FAMU to provide a means of enriching the underserved and their communities by providing an educational opportunity outside of the traditional four-year degree paradigm.
